Project title:

Research on the Theory and Techniques of Environmental and Health Risk in Sustainable Sanitary Systems

Project leader:

Wang Xiaochang

Abstract:

The study is to establish a theoretical and technological framework for environmental and health risk management by sustainable sanitation approaches. Following the past three years' study, a series of mathematical models of sustainable sanitation systems will be worked out based on the concepts of maximization of environmental/health benefits and minimization of environmental burden, new methodologies will be developed for environmental and health risk assessment incorporating with molecular biological analysis and bio-assay with human cell, and applicable technologies will be developed and upgraded for the improvement of environmental/sanitary conditions and reduction/management of health risks. The study will bring about an innovation of the traditional methods and provide new tools to be applied for rational design and evaluation of practical projects.
