Abstract:

Reclaimed water reuse for landscape waters is a common type of wastewater reuse. Evaluation of the health risk caused by pathogenic microorganisms in low-frequency exposure to reclaimed water is of importance to ensure the safety of water reclamation. This study will investigate the distribution and occurrence of pathogens in reclaimed water and spread mediums by using several analytical techniques including real-time PCR, flow cytometry analysis and molecular cloning. The results can illustrate the characteristics of pathogenic contamination in reclaimed water. Survival and decay of pathogenic microorganisms in transmission will be elucidated by waterborne and aerosol spread experiments. Based on the knowledge of the reuse types and behavior of various populations in reclaimed water reuse for landscape waters, high-risk exposure pathway will be clarified. Using the dose of single exposure in the common high-risk exposure pathway measured by exposure experiment and exposure factors of populations, suitable dose-response models can be selected. Based on the above research, we will propose a microbial risk assessment method under low-frequency exposure in reclaimed water reuse for landscape waters. This research project can provide the scientific basis and technical supports for the safety of water reuse and has important theoretical significance and practical value.
