Updated on December 2015

The International Science & Technology Cooperation Center for Urban Alternative Water Resources Development (Int’l AWR Center) was established to gather researchers within and outside of China to carry out research work on alternative water resources utilization for sustainable urban development through academic and technological exchanges, case studies and engineering projects, and promoting the transfer of new concepts and technologies to countries and regions to meet their development goals. In July 2014, an agreement was signed between the International Water Association (IWA) and Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology (XAUAT) for the establishment of the Int’l AWR Center. The Int’l AWR Center was approved by the Science and Technology Department of Shaanxi Province as a provincial center in March 2015, and is now approved by the Department of International Cooperation, Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) as a national center in October 2015. It is now the first international cooperative platform of this kind, under the support of Chinese government.
